Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows us to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing.

Nutritional Therapy practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalized nutrition and lifestyle programmes tailored to their unique circumstances. Practitioners never recommend Nutritional Therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with 'red flag' signs or symptoms to their medical professional.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Nutritional Therapy consultations and any information exchanged during the consultation is private and confidential. Clients may request that relevant information regarding personalised protocols or test results be communicated with other healthcare professionals but this will only be undertaken with the full consent of the client.

The Nutritional Therapy Consultation

Before the initial consultation we will provide you with a health and nutrition questionnaire for you to complete and return prior to your appointment. The questionnaire gives an overview of both your current health concerns and your previous health history. We also request that each client complete a 7 day diet diary.

The standard initial consultation usually lasts around 120 minutes during which time you will be asked detailed questions about current health concerns, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, medical history, family history, lifestyle, levels of physical activity, use of medication and supplements and diet. The consultation also includes a series of safe non invasive tests to measure body composition, arterial elasticity, heart rate variability and blood pressure.

Following your consultation all your information with be evaluated based upon your individual needs and through the extensive evidence base for nutritional science we will develop a personalised, safe and effective nutrition and lifestyle programme. Your Wellness Plan will be presented to you either by email usually within 3 working days or post (delivery times may be longer).

Follow up Consultations

Follow up consultations follow generally four to six weeks after the initial consultation in order to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments. Further follow-ups may be required depending on each individual situation.
